Producing
Taking over a show or creating one from scratch is a major step in one's Drag career, and should be treated not only as an avenue to grow your own career, but that of others. Being a producer means becoming an employer, and this means that other people will be defaulting to you as the head of operations. Safety of your staff takes precidence over all else, so it would be worth it to consider these questions and/or discuss them with potential venues:
Where are the fire exits?
Is there a first aid kit on the premises?
How many bathrooms are in the building, and are any of them gender-neutral? Accessible?
What kind of security will be present on the night? (If none, be sure your doorperson is not alone when taking tickets)
How accessible is this venue for wheelchair users?
Are there loose cords on stage that need taping?
Is the sound equipment provided? Is it in good condition?
What is the usual crowd at this venue, and would they be belligerant if they stumbled in?
How big is the green room? Will it fit three, four, five people and their luggage? Is it well lit, with a mirror?
What kind of curfew will be imposed on the venue, and are there sound restrictions?
How close is it to public transportation?
What is the venue's capacity?
